HTML to PDF

Rendered by a real browser engine, so stylesheets, flexbox and grid lay out the way they do on screen. The text stays selectable in the PDF rather than becoming a picture.

Why render HTML with a browser?

A PDF of a web page is only useful if it looks like the web page. Converters that read markup and approximate it get modern layout wrong — columns collapse, grids stack, spacing drifts. This uses the same engine that drew the page in the first place.

Chromium rendering, so flexbox and CSS grid lay out correctly
Upload a file, paste markup, or give a web address
A4, Letter, Legal, A5 or Tabloid, portrait or landscape
Background colours and images optionally printed
Text stays selectable and searchable in the PDF
Scripts never run, and private network addresses are refused

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my page blank or missing content?
JavaScript is not executed, by design — running a stranger's code on our servers is not something we will do. A page that renders its content client-side will come out close to empty. Save it from your browser first and upload the saved file instead.
Can I convert a page behind a login?
No. We fetch the address anonymously, so we see what a logged-out visitor sees. Print the page to HTML from your own browser and upload that file.
Will it look exactly like my screen?
It will look like your browser's print preview, which is not quite the same thing — pages have a fixed width and stylesheets often define separate print rules. That is the correct behaviour for something going onto paper.
Which addresses are refused?
Anything that is not http or https, and any address that resolves onto a private, loopback or link-local network. That stops the tool being used to reach machines that are not meant to be public.
